Yuma ABEC hosted another DRIVE in the Desert competition involving 39 teams from 9 middle schools at the City of Yuma RC Raceway. This event was the culminating activity for students as they completed a semester-long study of the automotive industry. Jon Pitts from Swire Coca-Cola provided soft drinks and water once again for the day. Clint Harrington from Pilkington Construction donated prizes to the winning team. Pauline Villa and Anna Martinez from El Charro joined us as a new partner with awesome burritos and rolled tacos. Eddie Ramirez from Fast Eddie’s overcome some computer difficulties and called the races “Old School” style. Eddie also provided instructional and maintenance support throughout the semester.
First place went to The Jack of All Trades from Gowan Science Academy.
Harrison and the Hendersons from Gowan Science Academy finished second and Bolts from Crane Middle School finished in third place.
